Japanese director Shinsuke Sato has dropped hints about the live-action adaptation of Tite Kubo's "Bleach" manga.
On Aug. 15, Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine announced that a live-adaptation of "Bleach" manga is a go with director Shinsuke Sato helming the project. The film will star "Strobe Edge" actor Sota Fukushi, 23, as the hotheaded protagonist named Ichigo Kurosaki, Anime News Network reported.
In the original manga, Ichigo was dragged into the action-filled world of Shinigami after running into a Soul Reaper, Rukia Kuchiki, assigned to patrol the anecdotal Karakura Town. The latter offer to briefly transform him into a Shinigami by puncturing his chest with her Zanpakuto.
Hence, transferring half of her power to him. With this, Ichigo concedes to fill in as Rukia's stand-in, battling to shield individuals from evil spirits called Hollows and sending good spirits, Wholes, to the Soul Society.
Although in-depth details about the live-action film remain scarce, the 46-year-old director confirmed that it will feature an extraordinary Soul Society, monstrous Hollows, and ruinous Zanpakuto sword-fighting techniques, according to Japan Today.
The news outlet noted that the film will mostly likely feature a storyline covering the earlier arcs of the manga, particularly in light of series creator Tite Kubo noting that he hopes the live-action movie will end up as something "even people who know nothing about the franchise can enjoy."
"My only concern is perhaps the hair color," said Tite Kubo, as quoted by Kotaku. "If that color is in the live-action movie, it would be strange, so I wonder what they're going to do."
The series creator then confirmed that he will help with the production to ensure that the live-action movie will remain faithful to its source material. Live-action "Bleach" film is planned for a 2018 release.
