The hotheaded teenager Ichigo Kurosaki is coming to the big screen. Just as Tite Kubo's long-time running manga nears its end, the live-action adaptation of "Bleach" has finally been greenlit.
The good news came to light when this year's 38th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine announced on Aug. 15, Monday, that a live-adaptation adaptation of "Bleach" manga is a go with "Library Wars: The Last Mission" director, Shinsuke Sato, helming the project, Anime News Network reported.
According to the news outlet, Japanese actor Sota Fukushi will star as Ichigo Kurosaki in the live-action film. The 23-year-old star is quoted as saying, "When I first heard they were doing a live-action 'Bleach,' I was also surprised."
Original manga creator Tite Kubo, whose real name is Noriaki Kubo, said that he will help with the production as mush as he can so that the live-action movie will not only be enjoyable for new fans but will also satisfy long-time ones, as well.
"My only concern is perhaps the hair color," Kotaku quoted Tite Kubo as saying. "If that color is in the live-action movie, it would be strange, so I wonder what they're going to do."
Live-action "Bleach" film will open in Japan at some point in 2018. More details about the project will be revealed soon.
The original "Bleach" manga follows the adventures of a teenager, Ichigo Kurosaki, who can see ghosts. With this, he befriends with a Soul Reaper, Rukia Kuchiki, who is in charge of slaying evil spirits called Hollows.
While the latter is extremely injured safeguarding the former from a Hollow, Rukia exchanges her Spirit Pressure to Ichigo so that he may fight in her stead. Ichigo's newfound powers evidently constrain him to assume the commitments of protecting people from fiendishness spirits and managing departed souls to the afterlife.
The final chapter of "Bleach" manga is set to be released on Aug. 22. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
