Leaked images of the so called PlayStation 4 Slim made rounds on the Internet, and there are speculations of whether it is real or simply a joke.
The original post on gumtree.com was already removed, but somebody by the name of Adam was trying to sell a boxed-for-retail PlayStation 4. What made the ad interesting was the image that somewhat show a slimmed version of the PlayStation 4.
It even referred the hardware as "slim line model" and priced at £295 ($385).
Some think that the ad was simply a well-made hoax, but there are some factors which may indicate that this PlayStation 4 Slim is actually a real model from Sony.
The PlayStation meeting in New York City is to be held this coming September 7 and major announcements may be made on that day. The same thing happened on 2013 on the same exact date with the reveal of the PlayStation 4.
A lot of speculations point to the introduction of 4K gaming hardware, the PlayStation 4 Neo or PS4.5 Neo, but Sony could possibly include the slim version of the original PS4 instead or both of them.
The Verge fortunately got a hold of the images for the product that was posted. It was provided by the seller himself and it did look legit. It also indicated the absence of the optical audio port. As reported by other sites, this could also lead to a notable price drop.
At this point, the PlayStation 4 Slim may remain as a speculation, but it wouldn't be long before everything is cleared as we're two weeks away from the PlayStation Meeting.
It may be wise for potential buyers of the PlayStation 4 console to hold off for a bit until everything is clarified by Sony in order to take advantage of the choices available.
