The seventh developer beta of iOS 18.1, which brings about a few interesting updates for all compatible iPhone models, has been released. Although it is not a particularly massive update, it does bring subtle yet important visual tweaks and new features of Apple Intelligence (AI).
iOS 18.1 Beta 7 Brings in Some Minor Changes in Clock Widget
Most noticeable, perhaps, is a slight but interesting tweak of the face of clock widgets. According to Apple Insider, this change is said to introduce some level of translucency in the widget when the phone is running in "tinted mode" or dark screen mode, which means the widget would not create huge striking colors when it's in the background of a dark home screen, hence making them blend well within the surroundings.
Translucency isn't much of a strong feature as some would have wished, but the transition does help in making the whole experience a bit more cohesive visually. Other than the clock widget, other widgets have only received some tiny visual refines, but it isn't quite that important.

AI Features Grab the Lion's Share of iOS 18.1
Other than these visual changes, iOS 18.1 Beta 7 introduces Apple Intelligence, such as some cool features. Though not all of these AI-powered tools are included in this version, a few very important functionalities have made their first appearance.
Among the new features are writing tools, designed to assist users with quick text generation. The update also introduces a Photo Clean-up tool, which helps organize and declutter photo libraries by removing duplicates or similar shots. Additionally, users can now create personalized memory movies directly within the Photos app, making it easier to relive and share special moments.
While the feature is said to debut in iOS 18.2, features like Genmoji are widely expected and at the moment, Apple's AI features will be made available on compatible iPhones.
Enhanced Management for Emails and Simplified Notifications
But apart from AI innovation improvements, some quality-of-life upgrades can be noticed in iOS 18.1 Beta 7, Tom's Guide reports. The most important update is to make it easier to update your main email used with your Apple Account.
In the previous version, this kind of change would have to go through long verification, whereas now it's just a few clicks without the additional process.
That's not all, however; the notification system has been improved in this version for users who pair Apple Watch. A summary notification can now directly arrive on the watch and alert users about incoming messages, thereby allowing them to quickly assess it and then decide on their next course of action.
This iOS 18.1 Beta 7 certainly comes with some exciting new features and subtle refinements that will appeal to keen eyes, compared with sweeping changes.
With enhanced AI functionality, minute visual tweaks, and convenience features such as streamlined email management and improved notifications, this update will shine - if fully realized in the official release.
