The latest rumor about the highly anticipated title "Kingdom Hearts 3" making its way to the upcoming Nintendo NX console may just be an elaborate hoax, according to sources.

Earlier this week, Nintendo Insider reported that the game may be coming to Nintendo's new console.

This rumor stemmed from a screenshot posted by Twitter user SuperMetalDave64, which shows a placeholder for "Kingdom Hearts 3" for the NX on Australian online retail store EB Games.

This rumor, however, was already crushed by EB Games themselves, who said that they have never listed "Kingdom Hearts 3" for the Nintendo NX on their site in the first place. According to Segment Next, the online retailer denied ever listing the game, and said on its Twitter page that the alleged screenshot may just be a photoshopped image uploaded online.

There is still a possibility, however, that the listing is true, and if it is, then it will be a great move for Nintendo.

Porting the new "Kingdom Hearts" title to the NX may be one of the reasons why the game is experiencing a long delay.

Nintendo Insider reported that the game company might just possibly use the title as one of their biggest launch titles, alongside "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."

This will not be the first "Kingdom Hearts" title to hit a Nintendo console, as "Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance" was released on the Nintendo 3DS.

This will also support the news that Nintendo is hard at work in taking third-party developers onboard the Nintendo NX train, and big names like Ubisoft, Sega, Activision, among others, have already voiced out their support. It looks like Square Enix is getting aboard the NX console as well.

Nintendo is also planning to go all out on first-party titles as well for the NX, with rumors of new "Pokémon" and "Super Mario" titles to be released within six months of the console's launch.

As for "Kingdom Hearts 3," Square Enix is yet to announce any concrete release date.
