Good news awaits all "Rick and Morty" fans. Latest reports claimed Evil Morty is set to return on the series' much-awaited season 3.
The talks about Evil Morty's possible return first came out after show creator Dan Harmon revealed their plans to revisit the previous plots from the last two seasons and incorporate them in "Rick and Morty" season 3 new storyline. With that in mind, it is now strongly speculated that Evil Morty will be the series' greatest scoundrel.
"I re-watched both seasons a couple nights ago," The Hollywood Reporter quoted Harmon as saying. "And now, I'm excited about revisiting stuff in season three because I was so phobic about revisiting stuff in season two."
It is worth noting that Evil Morty made a debut in the tenth episode of "Rick and Morty's" season 1 entitled "Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind," which aired on April 7, 2014. In the said episode, Evil Morty played an auxiliary foe who was the mastermind behind the sudden death of alternate Ricks and kidnapping alternate Mortys. He was last seen gathered together with different Rickless Mortys.
With respect to the synopsis, The Christian Times reported that the third season will follow Rick, who is now a kingpin behind the bars in a galactic prison. It is said that Morty, who persistently searched for him, encounters a fake Rick with whom he will spend time with.
An unforeseeable conflict arises after the Evil Morty kidnapped and held hostage the real Rick. Nonetheless, such speculations are yet to be confirmed in the upcoming "Rick and Morty" season 3.
Meanwhile, creator Harmon recently denied rumors claiming that the series' much-awaited third season will premiere in August this year.
"That I can squash. I don't see any parallel universe where August is a possibility," said Harmon, as quoted by Paste Magazine. "We're a while from being able to give a hard date. Part of that is just that we're still figuring it out as we work over here."
Harmon added that the official announcement concerning the show's release date would have to come from Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. Hence, speculations are rife that "Rick and Morty" season 3 could hit the airwaves in early 2017.
