The third episode of "Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma" Season 2 has aired, and with it, fans saw the much-anticipated arrival of Subaru Mimasaka, a notorious man in the Tōtsuki Culinary Academy. Now, spoilers and predictions claimed that the anime's upcoming episode 4 entitled "The Pursuer" begins with a notable Shokugeki between Takumi Aldini and Subaru Mimasaka.

Subaru had successfully passed the 43rd Annual Autumn Election preliminaries. For the quarterfinal match of the main tournament, his adversary would be Takumi Aldini, a fellow student who mastered Italian Cuisine. As Takumi and Subaru entered the cooking arena, an astounding announcement was made.

The Shokugeki Administration Bureau Official decided to make the quarterfinal match into an official Shokugeki. The judges - Senzaemon Nakiri, Kakinoshin Oizumi, Seishu Saotome and two unnamed chefs - were then informed that they will each have a vote as opposed to all five coming to a single agreement. Notably, Shokugeki is a longstanding custom in the Totsuki Culinary Academy, which permits students to settle their arguments through a formal duel using their culinary ability.

The Quarterfinal Shokugeki began with a condition that if Subaru lost, he will have to prostrate himself to Takumi's Mezzaluna and Isami. However, the latter would have to give his Mezzaluna, a special knife in Italian Cuisine, to Subaru in the event that he wins. The cooking battle will have a theme of Desserts.

Subaru will finally unleash his "perfect trace" cuisine style in "Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma" Season 2 episode 4. According to Shokugeki No Soma Wikia, Subaru revels in breaking the spirits of his rival in a form of mimicking their cooking styles and propensities. Hence, he currently held a 99 Shokugeki win streak.

Directed by Yoshitomo and produced by J.C. Staff, "Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma" Season 2 premiered on July 2. The second season is somewhat shorter than its predecessor, having only 13 episodes, Anime News Network has learned.
