The latest rumors about the upcoming Sony PS4 Neo suggested that it would be released with another gaming console called the PS4 Slim. It is possible that the new Sony platform would be more efficient compared to other consoles.
According to Macquarie Securities analyst Damian Thong, the Japan-based company is planning to release the PS4 Slim. The Wall Street Journal reported that the PS4 Slim would be placed in direct competition with Xbox One S and the upcoming Project Scorpio. This is claimed to be the company's efforts to increase its market share by pitching its news products against Microsoft's consoles.
Even though the detailed report published by the analyst is blocked by a paywall, one of the renowned journalists from The Wall Street Journal Tokyo bureau, Takashi Mochizuki, tweeted on his official Twitter account the news about the possible release of PS4 Slim.
Tech Radar reported that the PS4 Slim will sport a 4K resolution support and is expected to provide a better streaming service as compared to PlayStation Now.
On the other hand, BGR reported that the PS4 Neo will provide a 4K gaming support to players along with better quality Virtual Reality experience via PlayStation VR headset.
According to VG 247, the PS4 Slim and PS4 Neo would mark the end of the PlayStation 4 series. This news was confirmed by the one of Sony Executives, Andrew House, during a Tokyo meeting. Many reports have thus hinted at the possibility that the last upgrades to the PS4 platform could result in the end of the gaming console's cycle and PlayStation 5.
The PS4 Slim is expected to be released during the Tokyo Game Show in September 2016. However, no official confirmation has been given by Sony yet. If rumors prove to be true, the company will start the pre-orders for both the PS4 Slim and PS4 Neo in September and then start shipping in October.
