There have been a lot of rumors about how the Samsung Galaxy S7 would come out, what it looks, and what its specs are supposed to be. The most persistent one is the fact that the latest smartphone from the Korean tech company might be released in two versions; one version would be having the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset.
There's might be some truth to these claims and not only will the S7 have the latest chipset, but it would also be the only smartphone to be carrying it in a while. According to the reports, the latest flagship device from Samsung will (exclusively) have the Snapdragon 820 until April of next year. This means that the first three months will make Samsung the only one to have the latest chipset.
Earlier, Qualcomm had a rough year having their latest and so far most powerful SoC, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 have several issues. One of the issues found in certain hand held devices were the chipset's handling at high temperature. Another issue was how the chipset failed the public's expectation and how it should work.
With all these problems and criticisms, it was observed that rather than relying on Qualcomm for their chipset, they have opted to use one of their in-house built processors in their devices released this year, the Exynos 7420, which worked out well for Samsung as it turned out to be one of the most powerful SoCs that the public has seen this year.
After that mini fiasco with the Snapdragon 810, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 820. The latest chipset is said to have solved the problems that its predecessor had with better control of the temperature and improved performance. On the other side, some companies are already teasing the public with their latest devices having the latest Snapdragon 820.
Among these companies, the most popular and most probable to have the said set is Xiaomi's Mi5. At first, it was thought to be the first device to have the said chipset, but the reports about the latest Samsung S7 was thrown in the loop and is likely to have it earlier than Xiaomi. Either way, the reports are still vague for now, so there is no confirmation on the exact releases on who might be the first to have the SoC.
