The new-generation Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are now officially available from UK carrier Vodafone, on a range of 4G plans.

The new Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge flagship smartphones made their formal debut back in early March at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 and have already proved to be in quite high demand. The handsets stirred lots of interest among consumers worldwide, as they not only rock top-notch specs and features, but they also come with a more premium design compared to their predecessor.

While the Samsung Galaxy S5 sported a band aid-like design made of plastic that has received lots of criticism, the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge now boast metal frames and glass backs for a more premium look and feel. Many were expecting to see an all-metal design along the lines of the Galaxy A series, but Samsung went for glass covers instead.

UK mobile carrier Vodafone now has both the Samsung Galaxy S6 flagship and the curved-display Galaxy S6 Edge in stock, and both handsets are available for purchase on various 4G plans.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is available for free on two-year contracts starting at £44 per month, while the Galaxy S6 Edge comes in at £9 upfront on two-year contracts starting at £49 per month.

As a reminder, the new-generation Galaxy S6 smartphones rock 5.1-inch displays with a QHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, pack octa-core Samsung Exynos 7420 processors under the hood, and boast 3GB of RAM for a smooth performance. Other specs include 32/ 64/ 128GB of internal storage capacity (non-expandable), 16-megapixel rear cameras, and 5-megapixel front shooters. The Galaxy S6 features a 2,550 mAh battery and the Galaxy S6 Edge has a 2,600 mAh unit (both non-removable). The Galaxy S6 Edge is available only in 64GB or 128GB configurations.

On the software side, both smartphones run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, with Samsung's own TouchWiz UI on top. The two handsets are already shaping up to be in high demand worldwide, and Samsung said it expects to see record sales for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, topping even the popular Galaxy S4.
