A newly-leaked image surfaced online, appearing to show the upcoming HTC One M9 and what looks like a One M9 Plus variant.
The HTC One M9 is one of the most highly-anticipated smartphones set to launch this year, and the rumor mill has been constantly buzzing in anticipation. The current One M8 flagship is among the most popular smartphones on the market and its successor is expected to be even more impressive, and a new leak now reveals some intriguing details.
Trusted tipster @evleaks, who has provided accurate information countless times in the past when it came to unannounced devices and plans in the tech world, has now temporarily stepped out of retirement to post a juicy HTC leak. The newly-posted render seems to show the final design of the One M9 and its larger counterpart.
As you can see in the image above, HTC apparently borrowed a page from Apple's playbook and designed two versions of its 2015 flagship, with different sizes. Unofficially dubbed the One M9 Plus, the larger variant of the smartphone sports an intriguing design detail.
More specifically, the larger model seems to have a Samsung-like physical home button, which would mark a big change from the design of the HTC One series. This home button may also serve as a fingerprint reader. Another departure from the current design relates to the front camera and notification light, which now appear to be centered at the top on both devices, rather than at the top right as found on the One M8.
The tipster doesn't reveal anything in terms of specifications, and doesn't mention what the two devices will be called. Based on previous reports, however, the HTC One M9 is expected to pack powerful internals, and its larger counterpart could share the same specifications.
HTC is expected to take the wraps off its new-generation flagship(s) ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, as the company has sent out invitations to a special event for March 1. It all remains in the rumor state until then, so make sure to take this leak and all others with a hefty grain of salt.
