We're a few good months away from seeing the 2015 HTC flagship smartphone, but a new report nonetheless details the purported HTC One M9.
No concrete evidence is available just yet and no leaked images of the purported HTC One M9 have surfaced so far, but the rumor mill is busy churning in anticipation as always. The next-generation HTC One handset won't be making its official debut for another three or four months, but that has never stopped leaks and reports from trying to paint a picture of what to expect.
A new report out of China now claims to have some details on the specifications of the upcoming HTC One M9, revealing exciting things, while also bolstering previous rumors about a potential HTC One M9 Prime variant of the 2015 flagship smartphone.
If this new report turns out to be accurate, the HTC One M9 will sport some impressive changes compared to its predecessor, the current One M8. According to the latest leak, the next-generation HTC flagship smartphone will boast a 5.5-inch QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a powerful 3,500 mAh battery to keep everything up and running.
At the same time, the new report from MyDrivers also claims that the HTC One M9 will feature a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), which would mean that HTC is ready to ditch its UltraPixel tech. Moreover, considering that Apple purchased Beats and is expected to integrate the service into its next-generation iPhones, HTC will have to find a different partner in this department, and it could team up with Bose to spice up its smartphones' audio capabilities.
Changes are also rumored to occur on the design front, as the report suggests that HTC may use an aluminum silicon-carbide composite for the body of its next-generation flagship smartphone.
It remains unclear, however, just what the purported Prime variant would have to offer over this alleged HTC One M9 configuration, as it already sounds quite premium. The HTC One M9 Prime may rock a bigger display, but it remains to be seen whether it will also boast other upgrades.
Keep in mind, however, that it's all in the rumor state for now and it's always best to take all leaks, rumors, and reports with a hefty grain of salt. The image above is just a concept design, not the actual device. HTC is expected to unveil its next-generation flagship smartphone next year at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, which will take place on March 2-5.
