The Nokia N1 Android tablet may be ready to make its debut in China on Jan. 7, 2015, if a new report turns out to be accurate.

Microsoft may have purchased Nokia's device unit, but not all of Nokia disappeared in the buyout. There's still a part of the Finnish company that remained untouched, and that part will continue to live on and launch new devices. Of course, with its device unit changing hands, Nokia will team up with other companies to launch devices.

Nokia introduced its upcoming N1 Android tablet back in November, and said at the time that it would launch the slate around the Chinese New Year, which falls on Feb. 19 in 2015.

The Nokia N1 sports a sleek aluminum unibody design that's quite similar to the iPad Mini, and aims to launch as an affordable alternative for Android tablet fans. According to a new report, the Nokia N1 may in fact be ready to hit China on Jan. 7, 2015.

The report in question is in Chinese, however, and the translation makes it a bit unclear whether Jan. 7 will be the date the Nokia N1 actually hits retail in the country, or whether a new Nokia N1 conference will take place on that date.

As a reminder, the Nokia N1 will come with a 7.9-inch IPS LCD display with a high resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and pack a 64-bit Intel Atom processor under the hood, clocked at 2.3GHz and paired with PowerVR G6430 graphics and 2GB of RAM. Other specs include 32GB of internal storage capacity, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, and a 5,300 mAh battery. On the software side, the tablet will boast the Nokia Z launcher on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Nokia also wants to offer its new N1 Android tablet at a competitive price point, announcing that the slate will cost $249 plus taxes.

While the latest report suggests that the Nokia N1 will make its debut in China on Jan. 7, 2015, it makes no mention of when the tablet might hit other markets as well. Nokia, for its part, has yet to offer an exact launch date for the N1 Android tablet, but is expected to offer more information shortly. In the meantime, you can learn more about the Nokia N1 from the company's website here or by watching the keynote presentation below.
