The purported Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5 have leaked online, ahead of their expected debut as part of the company's new A series of metallic handsets.
When Samsung officially launched its Galaxy Alpha smartphone, it disappointed many who were hoping for a full-metal handset. Nevertheless, the Galaxy Alpha marked an important step forward in terms of design, as it no longer featured an all-plastic body in typical Samsung fashion.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is reportedly just the first in a lineup of metallic handsets that are expected to launch as the Samsung Galaxy A series. The purported Galaxy A3 (SM-A300H) and Galaxy A5 (SM-A500M) have now leaked online with quite an appealing design.
The leaked images come from Android Mexico, revealing what the upcoming Galaxy A3 and A5 handsets allegedly look like. Moreover, GSMArena has shared some specifications for each of these two devices.
The Samsung Galaxy A5 will reportedly come with a 5-inch Super AMOLED display with an HD 720p resolution and pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 or 410 processor under the hood, clocked at 1.2GHz. Other purported specs include a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front shooter, 16GB of internal storage capacity, and microSD support for additional memory. On the software side, Android 4.4.4 KitKat should run the show.
The Samsung Galaxy A3, meanwhile, will reportedly have a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a qHD resolution of 960 x 540 pixels and pack a Snapdragon 410 chipset under the hood. This handset is further expected to come with an 8-megapixel 1080p rear camera and a 5-megapixel front shooter. Other leaked specs for this device include 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage capacity, expandable via microSD. This model is also expected to run Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
GSMArena also claims to have some pricing details for the two smartphones, revealing that the Samsung Galaxy A5 will likely cost about $400 - $450, while the lower-end Galaxy A3 will come with a price tag of about $350 - $400.
It all remains unconfirmed for now, however, so it is highly advisable to take all such leaks and reports with a hefty grain of salt until Samsung makes an official announcement.
