Apple is apparently planning to hold a press event on Tuesday, Sept. 9, where it is widely expected to announce its highly-anticipated iPhone 6.

Recently there has been a lot of speculation regarding the purported launch date of the iPhone 6, with all sorts of reports hinting at alleged dates or delays. The iPhone 6 is expected to come in two large screen models - one with a 4.7-inch panel and the other with a massive 5.5-inch display. Rumors have claimed that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 was facing some production issues that may cause a delayed launch, but the 4.7-inch model was believed to be on track to debut in September.

According to new information, Apple has a media event planned for Sept. 9, where it will likely take the wraps off its next-generation iPhone. The news comes from Re/code, which has a good track record when it comes to leaking accurate information.

The publication pegs the iPhone 6 launch event for Sept. 9, but doesn't offer any additional information regarding what to expect. This purported launch date would fall in line with previous Apple launch schedules. The company has been unveiling new iPhone iterations in September since 2011, and it normally does so on a Tuesday. The subsequent retail launch is usually set for a Friday, in order to give customers a full weekend to get accustomed to the new gadget.

"Onstage at our inaugural Code conference earlier this summer, Apple SVP Eddy Cue described the company's fall product line as the best he'd seen in his 25 years at Apple. A few weeks from now we'll get our first look at what he was talking about," Re/code reports. "Apple has scheduled a big media event for Tuesday, Sept. 9 - a date to which Apple numerologists will strain to attribute significance. As with September events past, the focal point of this one is to be Apple's next generation iPhones, which are expected to feature larger displays of 4.7 and 5.5 inches and run speedy A8 processors. Apple declined to comment."

The iPhone 6 is expected to boast great improvements over its predecessor, sporting high-end specs and features all around. In addition to the much-touted larger display adn the faster A8 processor, the next-generation iPhone is rumored to come with NFC, wireless charging capabilities, enhanced 4G LTE radio, and more. On the software side, the iPhone 6 will run Apple's latest iOS 8, rocking all of the goodies the new operating system has to offer.

It remains unclear at this point whether Apple will unveil only the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 on Sept. 9 or the 5.5-inch model will debut as well. Without any official confirmation from the company, it all remains in the rumor state for now. As always in such cases, take all news and reports with a grain of salt.
