Samsung's much-rumored Galaxy Note 3 Lite is now the star of a new leak that reveals more specs, and the device will reportedly launch as the Galaxy Note 3 Neo.
Various recent rumors have claimed that Samsung is working on some light versions for some of its popular devices, and the new models would sport the "Lite" moniker. Such rumored devices include a Galaxy Note 3 Lite, Galaxy Grand Lite (the watered-down version of the Galaxy Grand Neo) and a Galaxy Tab 3 Lite.
The purported Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite has stirred the most interest and we now have more details regarding the device's alleged specifications. The folks over at GSM Arena have obtained a spec sheet for a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, which will reportedly be the name of the "Lite" device when it hits the market.
According to the leaked spec sheet, the purported Galaxy Note 3 Neo looks more like a Galaxy Note 2 version rather than a light variant of the Galaxy Note 3. The device sports the same 5.5-inch HD AMOLED display as the Galaxy Note 2, not the 5.7-inch screen size of the Galaxy Note 3. Other specs include 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage capacity, with a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 64GB. The device will also feature an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.9-megapixel front shooter.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo will further come with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box, and Galaxy Gear compatibility. The device will pack a 3,100 mAh battery and will include the popular S Pen stylus functionality. Compared to the Galaxy Note 2, the only difference the Galaxy Note 3 Neo seems to pack besides software is in the processor department, as the leaked spec sheet lists a 1.7GHz dual + 1.3GHz quad-core (Hexa) processor.
"It'll certainly be a step up from the 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos found on the Note 2, but the question is how will it compare to the Snapdragon 600 and 800 chipsets out there," GSM Arena points out.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo will reportedly retain the faux-leather back cover of the flagship phablet and will sport all of the Smart Features of the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4, including Air command and Advanced Multi Window.
In terms of launch, the rumor mill points to an official debut in February at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 trade show, but nothing is confirmed for now.
