The Google Nexus 5 is barely out and its successor won't arrive anytime soon, but a new concept design shows some interesting ideas.
Concept designs, as the very name suggests, are just concepts, which means they are by no means real products. It's a magical time of the year, however, and there's nothing wrong with a little dreaming, especially if it sounds so good.
A Deviant Art user has created a very intriguing concept for a device named Nexus X. The concept mentions some great specifications for the smartphone, including an octa-core Snapdragon processor clocked at 3.2 GHz and coupled with a whopping 6GB of RAM. If this would be real, just imagine how fast and responsive this smartphone would be!
Other specs envisioned in this Nexus X concept include a large 6.5-inch display with unscratchable Sapphire Crystal protection, a large 6,500 mAh battery, and Android 4.5. The software would come in three options: stock Android (as with all Nexus devices), a skinned version (as seen in the image above), or a third option that would have it rooted with CyanogenMod.
The concept Nexus X would also boast a high-end 30-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing "invis" shooter, and would have the speaker hidden behind its display. The smartphone would come in four storage configurations: 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB.
The Deviant Art user who came up with this concept even thought about retail prices for the device. The Nexus X would cost £400 (about $653) for a 16GB model, £500 (about $817) for 32GB, £700 (roughly $1,143) for 64GB and £900 (about $1,470) for 128GB. All models would be LTE-enabled.
As previously mentioned, this is a Nexus x concept envisioned by a Deviant Art user. It is not a real device, nor is it a render of an upcoming device. It does, however, sound very promising, and such a device would definitely stir quite some waves on the smartphone market. On the other hand, don't get your hopes up. Returning to the real world, the Nexus 5 is a top-notch device itself, and its successor will most likely be even more impressive, even if it will not match this concept.
