The new Google Nexus 10 tablet has leaked in a couple of new images, claiming that it will be made by LG and will cost roughly $482.
Google has already refreshed its ASUS-made Nexus 7 tablet and recently launched the LG-made Nexus 5 smartphone, which leaves the larger Nexus 10 in tow for a new iteration. As opposed to the new Nexus 7 and Nexus 5 devices, which leaked extensively before their official debut, the upcoming Nexus 10 is still shrouded in mystery.
While the current Nexus 10 tablet is Samsung-made, various reports have claimed that Google will choose another partner for the new iteration. ASUS was widely rumored to take over the Nexus 10 2013 manufacturing, but new information now points to LG.
Two new images surfaced on popular site Reddit and were posted on Pocket-Lint on Sunday, Nov. 17. Separate users leaked the two images, and both photos seem to illustrate a consistent tablet design.
"The original post has been removed from Reddit, but it indicated the tablet will go on sale 22 November with LTE and in both black and white colour options," Pocket-Lint reported.
The first leaked image seems to be an internal photo from LG and shows a model number of LG-V510 for the purported Google Nexus 10 refresh. It shows the purported Nexus 10 with the Google Experience launcher, a translucent LG logo overlaying the image, the codename below and an "Internal Use Only" note. If the codename is indeed for the upcoming Nexus 10, it suggests that this may be LG's fifth development design for the tablet.
The second image, meanwhile, shows a £299 ($482) price tag for the device, and features a watermark stating "Property of Telefonica." This image also shows the Google Experience Launcher, as well as a slim bezel and a front speaker for the tablet. The "Nexus 10" and £299 price tag appear below the image of the tablet.
In a Nov. 18 update to its original article, however, Pocket-Lint revealed that this image is fake. The publication received word from Telefonica, which denied the leaked information.
"This is not a Telefonica image and we are not aware of a new Nexus 10," the broadband and telecom provider told Pocket-Lint.
The accuracy of the first image remains unconfirmed for now, but it is advisable to take all leaks with a hefty grain of salt until Google makes an official announcement.
