HTC One owners in India will get Android 4.3 Jelly Bean soon, as the update has already started to roll out over the air (OTA).
While the global HTC One Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update started to roll out back in September, the Indian version of the smartphone was seemingly taking forever to get the new software. It may be long overdue, but the HTC One Android update is now finally rolling out in India as well.
"Please note that you can now update your software to the latest HTC Sense 5.5 with Android 4.3 for the #HTCOne," the company announced on its Facebook page. "Expect to see improvements with HTC BlinkFeed, HTC Zoe, Sense TV, Video Highlights, HTC Share, Quick Settings and other improvements."
The Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update, however, is skipping the dual-SIM version of the HTC One in India for now. The current rollout is only for the single-SIM version of the handset, with the update for the dual-SIM version set to follow afterwards.
"This update is only for the HTC One 3G. HTC One dual-SIM software update will be available at a later date," noted the company.
As HTC pointed out in its announcement, the latest Jelly Bean flavor and the HTC Sense 5.5 user interface (UI) update will bring several improvements to a number of native apps. The new update is also expected to bring battery charging animation for the power-off state, gallery and camera enhancements, improved color-contrast in low-light conditions, and more. HTC is yet to provide a full changelog for the update.
Moreover, HTC also touted 40GB of Google Drive storage space in its Facebook post, suggesting that the update will bring along additional cloud storage for HTC One owners. Keep in mind that the Google Drive app will display a notification for the extra free storage only after the update to HTC Sense 5.5.
As always with OTA updates, the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and HTC Sense 5.5 software package will roll out gradually, which means that it may take a while for the new update to reach all HTC One users. HTC should complete the rollout within the next few weeks. The company did not specify when exactly the dual-SIM HTC one will get the update, but we'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more.
