AT&T Locker is finally available for Windows Phone 8 (WP8) devices as well and it comes with 5GB of free cloud storage.
The cloud service applies to U.S.-based Windows Phone 8 users on AT&T. AT&T Locker has been available for quite some time for iOS and Android users, but WP8 device owners did not have access to this service until now.
AT&T Locker allows users to upload photos, videos, music files and documents to the cloud over Wi-Fi or the carrier's network. The Easy Upload feature backs up all photos and videos automatically, while also enabling users to select which files to share via email, Facebook or Twitter, straight from the AT&T Locker.
AT&T posted the WP8 version of Locker without any bells and whistles, opting instead for a quiet rollout. The new WP8 app features a Microsoft-inspired interface and maintains all core features, including the aforementioned option to automatically upload photos and videos.
Signing up for the AT&T Locker, however, could be easier and smoother. Users have to enter an email address, an AT&T Access ID (the email address will do), set a password and enter the randomly-generated security code. AT&T will send users a confirmation email, which means the service is good to go once they download AT&T Locker for Windows Phone 8 and sign in.
While signing in can be a bit of a hassle for some, navigation is pretty smooth and straightforward. The app sports pages dedicated to pictures, music and files, so users can easily find what they're looking for. A More Page, meanwhile, allows users to adjust settings, set up social networks for sharing, check out the help page and more.
As previously mentioned, AT&T Locker comes with 5GB of cloud storage for free. In case that's not enough, users can always purchase additional storage space. Moreover, it seems that a 50GB upgrade is currently available for free, for a limited time. To take advantage of this offer just go to the More Page in the app, tap Settings and select My Plan. The app should display two options - the 5GB plan and the 50GB plan - and the 50GB upgrade should appear as free. Select the plan, then exit the Settings menu. A pop-up window should confirm the plan change. According to user comments on the app page, AT&T Locker for Windows Phone 8 should work well, allowing for easy uploads and a smooth experience.
