HP just unveiled its Slate 21 all-in-one (AIO), continuing its foray into the world of Android with a new beast rocking Nvidia's Tegra 4.

As the name itself suggests, the HP Slate 21 AIO boasts a generous 21.5-inch display with Full HD resolution (1080p) and IPS LCD with wide viewing angles. Instead of running Windows, as one would expect from an AIO PC, the HP Slate 21 runs Android on an Nvidia Tegra 4 chip. In other words, HP's new gadget sounds and looks a lot like a tablet, only super-sized and marketed as a desktop.

The 21.5-inch Full HD touch screen supports 10-finger multitouch and HP markets its new Slate 21 as ideal for web browsing and media consumption, as well as video calls. The device sports an HP TrueVision HD webcam above the display and packs stereo speakers with DTS Digital Theater sound.

While the specs and features of the HP Slate 21 are normally associated with a tablet form factor, HP shakes things up with a wired keyboard and mouse for more convenient navigation and typing.

The HP Slate 21 also comes with a fold-out kickstand that allows users to easily prop the device either fully upright for watching a movie or at a more convenient angle for touchscreen navigation.

The device runs on the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but it remains unclear at this point whether HP made any customization to the interface. Many consumers typically yearn for a pure Android experience, unadulterated by skins, but transitioning Android to a 21.5-inch device might need some special adjustments.

The HP Slate 21 also comes with a digitizer which, according to CNET Asia, comes from Wacom. It's difficult to tell for now whether the device also comes with a digital stylus for graphics tasks, but such a feature could come in handy.

Other details regarding the device's specs and features remain scarce, but the HP Slate 21 may be the first AIO powered by Android alone. HP made no mention on when its new AIO will hit store shelves, nor how much it will cost when it becomes available.
