If you're using one of Nokia's iconic Asha feature phones, then it is more than likely that you're using the Nokia Xpress web browser, currently in Beta. However, there's now a new family member in the Nokia Xpress family, and it is called Xpress Now for Asha devices. You might be wondering, what it is and what does it do. Well, let's break it down for you.
First of all, Nokia Xpress Now is not a native application, it's a web app for Asha devices designed to allow users to discover exciting new content on the Internet. With Xpress Now, Nokia Asha users will be informed and entertained by what the Internet has to offer, but seems very similar to what one already gets from a web browser, doesn't it?
Nokia Xpress Now delivers a real-time, personalised look at what's hot on the Internet," explains Andy Kelm, Vice President - Nokia Xpress Services . "By combining the aggregated view of more than 80 million monthly users of Nokia Xpress Browser together with your browsing preferences, Nokia Xpress Now helps you discover hot stories and web sites you didn't know existed."
"Nokia Xpress Now is about discovering interesting stories and new content based on the wisdom of the crowd," adds Andy, "It's not a magazine, a story or a group of curated RSS feeds, but rather a collection of interesting web content that is always changing."
The web app should make interesting things easier to come by for Asha users, especially for those who are relatively new to the Internet and lack the knowledge on how to find content. For those who are well greased in the skills of finding great content on the web, Nokia Xpress Now does not appear to be the app for you. Still, that doesn't mean you can't give it a spin.
Nokia Xpress Now is available in Beta form in India, and should expand to other countries throughout 2013.
