A 32GB variant of AT&T's Samsung Galaxy S4 is no big surprise, but until now the carrier kept mum on the details and the actual release date.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 in larger configuration will be arriving on AT&T's network this week, joining its 16GB sibling for an additional $50.
AT&T's official Twitter account just confirmed the 32GB Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available starting May 10, with a $250 price tag on a two-year contract with the carrier.
Aside from the larger internal storage capacity, the 32GB Samsung Galaxy S4 is the same smartphone in every other way. Samsung's new flagship handset has already proved immensely successful, with demand so high that carriers are having trouble finding enough stock to fulfill all orders.
On the other hand, many eager shoppers were perplexed to see Samsung's bloatware problem when setting up their 16GB Galaxy S4s. Simply put, the operating system included apps that take up nearly half of that 16GB of onboard storage, leaving users with a meager 8GB for their own stuff. The smartphone comes with a micro SD card slot for expandable memory, but internal storage is typically faster and more convenient than a separate memory card. The 32GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 comes with a micro SD card slot as well, which means users can enjoy the best of both worlds if they can afford the extra cash.
Since the 32GB model of the Samsung Galaxy S4 will cost just $50 more than the lower-capacity, 16GB model, bringing the cheaper, 16GB model to a 32GB level would imply spending $10 or so on a micro SD card, which may not work as fast as the on-board storage.
Consequently, many potential buyers may find it worth it to shell out an extra $50 to have all storage in one place. Others may find the 16GB version sufficient with a micro SD card slot. Luckily for all parties, the Samsung Galaxy S4 now comes in more options to suit various needs and preferences. The 32GB version is not yet listed on AT&T's website, but it will appear soon.
