While the U.S. is still waiting for official confirmation on the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch, Canada is clear: the handset launches on April 27.
Samsung has yet to confirm the rumored April 26 release date of the Samsung Galaxy S4 in the U.S., but it did confirm that the smartphone will make its official debut in Canada on April 27.
The news comes from Samsung Canada, which officially announced the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch date on Twitter. The device is already available for pre-order from various Canadian carriers.
"The GALAXY S4 begins arriving April 27th," read the tweet on Monday, April 15. "Pre-order it with carriers starting today to have it first."
For those unfamiliar with the device, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is the new Samsung flagship and the successor of the popular Galaxy S3 smartphone. The new flagship packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.9GHz, comes with the latest Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean on board and boasts a 5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The new Samsung Galaxy S4 powerhouse also packs a powerful 2,600mAh battery, dual cameras — a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter — and is available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal storage configurations. The handset also features a micro SD card slot for expandable memory, just in case the available built-in storage is not enough.
The previous-generation Samsung Galaxy S3 enjoyed great success, which only intensified anticipation for the new Samsung Galaxy flagship. While it has quite some big shoes to fill, the Samsung Galaxy S4 seems more than ready to hold its own and compete with other flagship devices making their debut this year. The HTC One is likely the most powerful competitor to the Galaxy S4, but Samsung has plenty of fanboys loyal to its products.
If Canadian shoppers can grab the new Samsung Galaxy S4 starting April 27, it likely won't be long until the smartphone finally makes its debut on U.S. shores as well. Stay tuned for more launch details as they become available.
