The U.S. users of Motorola's DROID RAZR and RAZR Maxx devices were waiting impatiently for Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for a long time, and the long wait has finally come to an end for Verizon subscribers.
Verizon has started rolling out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for Motorola DROID RAZR and Motorola DROID RAZR Maxx devices with some bug fixes and new improvements.
"We are pleased to announce the new Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean software upgrade for the DROID RAZR by Motorola. The software upgrade (version.98.72.16.XT912.Verizon.en.US) includes numerous enhancements and improvements," an official post on Motorola's support forum states.
The new update will be giving a completely new feel and experience to the users of both DROID RAZR and RAZR Maxx smartphones as it comes with a new user interface (UI) that improves the device's looks and feel by updating colors, fonts, icons and animations. The update also adds Google Now in the phone's features.
Google Now is a new feature in both the devices and lets the users get real-time notifications about weather, traffic and other local information.
The Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean also improves earlier features such as voice search, camera, keyboard, gallery, notifications, Wi-Fi and the phone's web browser Chrome.
The Verizon exclusive update has removed some of the applications and widgets that were available with the earlier OS, Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.
With the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, the users will not get Verizon Video on Demand application and widgets such as Sticky Note, Picture Slideshow and Social Location.
Motorola DROID RAZR and RAZR Maxx both the smartphones were running Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich for quite some time; however, after updating to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, the devices will no longer be able to downgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich.
Motorola, last week, announced the release of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for its DROID RAZR and RAZR Maxx device across the world on phases.
"We're happy to announce today that the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade is rolling out to DROID RAZR and DROID RAZR MAXX by Motorola owners in phases... "With features like Google Now, Voice Search and expanded notifications, all of your key information is at your fingertips," Motorola's official page had stated.
