Walmart, which already has iPhone 4S in its stores with a no-contract unlimited monthly plan, is soon going to put iPhone 5 also in its shelves with the same plan.
With its Straight Talk wireless service, Walmart will give shoppers an opportunity of picking up Apple's latest iPhone at its 200 plus stores.
The major retailer will put iPhone 4 and 5 on sale on Jan. 11 with Straight Talk's no-contract plan $45 per month unlimited plan. The unlimited plan will include text, talk, and data.
Users, who will be heading to Walmart stores to buy the iPhones, will have limited options. The iPhone 5 will be available only in 16GB, and the iPhone 4's only 8GB version will be on sale.
The iPhone 5 and 4 will be priced at $649 and $449 respectively.
"We believe customers shouldn't have to choose between saving money and having the latest technology. Now customers can have the coveted iPhone with unlimited talk, text and data without a contract for $70 a month thanks to our exclusive Straight Talk plan and industry first financing offer," Seong Ohm, senior vice president of entertainment for Walmart, said in a statement.
The financing offer enables customers, who purchase the phone from the Walmart store, to get the phone on a no interest fixed-monthly payment offer for only $25 a month with a Walmart Credit Card.
Apart from the $45 per month plan, Straight Talk also offers a $60 per month plan that offers unlimited international calling to more than 1,000 destinations in Mexico, Canada, India, and other countries in addition to its unlimited talk, text, and data plan.
At present, Walmart's online store offers iPhone 5 for Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint with two-year contract.
"We are thrilled to be bringing the remarkable iPhone 5 to customers looking for one of the most advanced smartphones with one of the most affordable No Contract plans ever," said FJ Pollak, CEO and President, TracFone Wireless.
"The advanced iPhone 5 with our unlimited $45 monthly plan and Walmart's $25 special financing offer is a marriage made in heaven - making it the most affordable premium smartphone offer in America. With this exclusive offer the last reason for not purchasing the No Contract Straight Talk plan is gone."
Straight Talk is one of the TracFone brands, and is exclusive to Walmart stores because of a 2009 joint-venture between the two companies.
