HTC and Verizon are holding a media event on Nov. 13, where the duo is expected to unveil a new smartphone. Per reports, the highlight of the event is HTC's Droid DNA.
The joint press event to be held by HTC and Verizon will kick off at11 a.m. PT in New York on Nov. 13.
The Droid DNA, also known as HTC DLX, has been appearing in leaks and rumors for a while. It will likely sport a monstrous 5-inch display with a whopping 1080p full-HD resolution, according to reports. However, it will not be the company's first smartphone with 1080p display.
In October this year, HTC showed off the J Butterfly, an exclusive smartphone model for its Japanese customers, with 1080p display. The Taiwanese firm said that it will bring the same 1080p display to other smartphones it will release worldwide in the future. It seems that the Droid DNA is the smartphone HTC was talking about.
An XDA developer "Football" had earlier tweeted specifications of the upcoming HTC phone. According to the developer, the upcoming smartphone will pack Qualcomm's latest quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU clocked at 1.5GHz. It will have 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It will sport a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The LTE-enabled smartphone will come with a non-removable 2,500 mAh battery. The Droid DNA will reportedly run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 4+ user interface, and will likely get the Android 4.2 update.
The notorious tipster who goes by the Twitter handle @evleaks, and has proved reliable in the past, posted renders of the device Verizon and HTC will unveil next week. Although, it is not the first time the Droid DNA has appeared in leaked images, evleaks posted a blurry press shot leak for the smartphone.
Folks at TalkAndroid also have a leaked image of a Verizon document, which shows the upcoming HTC Droid DNA. The document highlighted similar specifications as those of other leaks. Earlier this week, the Droid DNA cleared the FCC. The FCC report also confirmed an international variant of the device having GSM radios on board.
According to rumors, HTC will start selling the Droid DNA in December for $199 on a 2-year contract. The unlocked version of the 5-inch device will reportedly cost $599.
