Rumors and benchmark leaks for Samsung's purported Galaxy Premier seem to be gathering momentum. Last week, a benchmarking test surfaced in China which divulged the likely specification details of the Galaxy Premier, and now the device has popped up again at GLBenchmark as Galaxy Superior.
The rumor mill has been suggesting that Samsung is adding to its Galaxy line-up of devices and is working on a new device dubbed the "GT-i9260" or Galaxy Premier.
A leak from German Web site MobileGeeks indicated that the alleged device was not a Nexus. The Web site posted images and specification details of the device, which it got via a trusted source. Additionally, the alleged offering from the Korean company also surfaced on an AnTuTu benchmarking test last week
Now, per reports, the details of the GT-i9260 have reappeared on GLBenchmark and the listing suggests that the device may not be called the Galaxy Premier after all, bur Galaxy Superior.
"The GLBenchmark listins makes multiple references to the name "Superior" which suggests that will be the name of the GT-i9260 once Samsung officially announces it. Perhaps we're looking at the results for the Samsung Galaxy Superior? That could very well be the case, and it's worth pointing out that this handset was called the "Superior" back when it was rumored to be the next Nexus device," reported AndroidCommunity.
The GLBenchmark leak of the GT-i9260 suggests that the mid-range smartphone will feature a 4.65-inch capacitive Super AMOLED HD display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and will have 1GB of RAM. It will run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box. These specifications are similar to the earlier leaks; however, this leak shows that the GT-i9260 uses a PowerVR SGX 544 GPU. By comparison, the earlier leaks indicated that the device will employ a 1.5GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU.
No information is currently available on the device's release date or price. Samsung has not confirmed the device's existence either. However, speculations are rife that the GT-i9260 will launch in Q4 2012, possibly in December.
Whether it is called the Galaxy Premier or Galaxy Superior or something else will be revealed once Samsung officially unveils the device.
