Last week a leak indicated that Samsung was on track to add to its Galaxy line-up of smartphones and was working on a device called the Galaxy Premier. Now, per reports, the alleged Galaxy Premier offering from the Korean company has surfaced in China in an AnTuTu benchmarking test.

On Oct. 11, German Web site MobileGeeks posted images and specification details of the Galaxy Premier or "GT-I9260," which it got via a trusted source.

"We are now faced with new information and a picture, which suposedly describe the device and show that is traded by some as a Samsung Galaxy Nexus second. The picture shows a smartphone that is in the style of the Samsung Galaxy S3, but by its shape but significantly different from the current flagship smartphone from Samsung and otherwise meets any of the previously known devices. The specifications of our source, also corresponds largely to what is already known for some time again," reported MobileGeeks (translated).

The recent benchmarking test, if authentic, reveals that the Galaxy Premier will be no slouch when and if it arrives.

"The first benchmarks of the new upcoming GT-I9268 (Galaxy Premier) showed up today in AnTuTu. The GT-I9268 is rumoured to be the Galaxy Premier. The phone scored 7736 points in the AnTuTu benchmark program. This phone could be the TD-SCDMA Asian variant of the Galaxy Premier," reported SamMobile.

With the Galaxy Premier scoring 7,736, it easily beats the 6,300 points of the Galaxy Nexus. The benchmark results also disclosed that the device packed in a 1.5GHz processor and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The model number "GT-I9268", however, is different to the "GT-I9260" indicated by earlier reports.

The rumored specifications of the Galaxy Premier suggest that the mid-range smartphone will feature a 4.65-inch capacitive Super AMOLED HD display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution. The leaks also indicate that the smartphone will measure 2.68 x 5.27 x 0.34 inches and will likely house 1GB of RAM. It will supposedly be available in 8/16GB with the option to expand the memory (up to 64GB) via a microSD card. The Galaxy Premier, it is speculated, will sport an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper.

No information is currently available on the Galaxy Premier's release date or price. However, speculations are rife that the smartphone will launch in Q4 2012, possibly in December.
