Verizon has officially announced that its HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE is now getting new software update.

Owners of the five-month-old HTC Droid Incredible 4G will be getting a quick update that fixes a few bugs, adds a number new features, and, more notably, adds global roaming and support for ISIS Mobile payments - the Google Wallet competitor.

The 154MB update file is listed as build 2.17.605.2 and includes several improvements aiming to make the device more popular among Verizon users. One of the most notable changes the new update brings is that Verizon has now enabled global roaming across 220 countries on the smartphone. This enabling implies that users who travel abroad will be allowed to roam globally even if they are no longer in Verizon's reach; however, global roaming may not come cheap.

Perhaps the greatest news for many HTC Droid Incredible 4G owners is that Verizon and HTC have also added support for ISIS Mobile Wallet. ISIS is a combined effort from multiple hardware partners and carriers in a bid to offer an NFC mobile wallet solution similar to Google Wallet.

Other features that come with the new update include the remote diagnostic tool, available on many other Verizon smartphones. This tool is designed to enable customer support to help with any issues manually. With remote diagnostic, customer support can even wipe the device if necessary.

Additionally, the update also brings improvements to 4G LTE. Verizon said it has improved 4G LTE connectivity in general, and the update should make the jump from 3G to 4G quicker, more seamless, while also saving battery life as an end result. Verizon has also improved the transition from Wi-Fi and 4G LTE, according to the document.

Owners of the Verizon Droid Incredible 4G should see the update arrive anytime now, if it has not landed already. Verizon notes that it should take about 15 to 20 minutes to download the update, depending on network conditions.

This update is the first one that Verizon has approved for the handset. For more information, as well as step-by-step instructions on how to update the device, users can read Verizon's support document.
