The mobile gaming industry is relatively new and constantly growing compared to its counterparts; thus the release of "Mighty Doom" by Bethesda Softworks was something expected along with a certain amount of doubt. Intending to take the "Doom" experience to compact palm-size devices, the game intended to offer a blend of the well-known endless series and the characteristics of the mobile games.

Nevertheless, the present review of the game "Mighty Doom" will help to understand the basis of its advantages and the main weak points, and general reaction of people.

A Disappointing Debut

"Mighty Doom" has received poor reviews from the fans and food critics as well contrary to the much anticipated break that the video game deserved.

The gameplay, which can be best described as arcady shooter form above with Angels depicted as spaceships, has been described as rather weak and cliché. Old School gamers that were used to the high octane, heart pounding action that define the main Doom games will likely feel that "Mighty Doom" is just an imitation with controls that are simple, and levels which are quite similar.

Mixed Reactions from Players

Some players have reported fun note the weapon power-up combos of "Mighty Doom" and the quick reference to the series violent nature, others have complained about the slow pacing of the game and at times its unresponsiveness controller. The choice of the game being of the roguelike, meaning players have to complete the level in a single and random run, has been accused of making the game frustrating for those who are seeking more engaging gameplay.

Moreover, since the game is free-to-play with restrictions in regards to energy levels and monetization possible through the purchase of additional in-game currency and items, it has also received negative attention for its impact on the players.

Preserving the Essence of Doom

Nevertheless, it is possible to conclude that for the defects mentioned above, the walkabout "Mighty Doom" does preserve some aspects familiar to fans of the series. Elements such as the Glory Kill system, where the player has the ability to execute enemies in a violent, eye-gouging way and in the process, gather resources also brings out the brutality that has always been a part of the game's setting. Besides that, the game has a very titular weapon system that may not be innovative but provides a vast number of gadgets and boosts that make the fights rather exciting and diverse.

Thus, it is all in all possible to conclude that "Mighty Doom" is just an attempt to honor the roots of the legendary "Doom" series in mobile gaming but failed to do so adequately. There are some entertaining aspects, including the weapon power-up combinations, winks to the series' brutal nature, however the game itself is fairly banal and offers nothing new, extremely tedious, and sometimes not very well controlled.

Players are still playing the available content, and Bethesda Softworks may well be thinking about options for patching the game and making improvements to it; only time will tell if "Mighty Doom" will overcome its flaws and become a worthy addition to the "Doom" franchise.
