In a significant move, Google is unveiling the latest Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3.1 to resolve various issues and enhance user experience. This comes just two weeks after the previous milestone, which introduced substantial UI changes.

AP11.231215.009 update includes the crucial January 2024 security patch and is now available for all supported devices. Users of Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro can benefit from this update.

For those using a Pixel Tablet, the on-device OTA stands at a manageable 122MB.

Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3.1 Bug Fixes

The latest Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3.1 update brings a host of fixes to enhance user experience. Among the resolved issues are glitches that hindered the opening of overlays, like the Game Dashboard in landscape mode, and difficulties in unlocking devices with always-on display mode using fingerprints. Other fixes include unexpected expansions in the Quick Settings dialog, inaccuracies in default search engine settings after restoring from cloud backup, and inaccuracies in Quick Settings display area updates.

The update also tackles audio quality degradation during calls or recordings, issues with changing device keyboard settings, missing translations in various languages, and work profile icon visibility problems. Concerns like empty launchers, unresponsive app dividers, and screen flickering have been addressed for foldable devices.

Additionally, tablet users will experience improvements like eliminating gray screen flashes and adjusting touch targets for taskbar icons and navigation buttons.

The update also addresses issues impacting system stability, performance, connectivity, camera, and accessibility. However, there are known issues, including native crashes causing unexpected reboots, connectivity problems leading to call failures, UI navigation handle rendering issues, and misplaced app icons after device setup.

Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3.1 OTA Update Now Available for Pixel 6, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 8 Pro

The Pixel 6, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 8 Pro are among the devices that can now download the Android 14 QPR2 Beta 3.1 OTA update. The Pixel 6, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 8 Pro updates have comparatively small file sizes-132MB, 142MB, and 152MB, respectively.

To check if the update is ready for your device, ensure it's enrolled in the beta program and navigate to Settings → System → Software updates → System update.

Alternatively, users can sideload the OTA or flash the factory images for manual installation. While these fixes may seem minor, this could be the final beta update for QPR2 before the upcoming Pixel Feature Drop goes public. Considering the swift transition from QPR1 to QPR2, it's plausible that we might witness a beta build of QPR3 or the June Pixel Feature Drop in the coming month.
