Traffic jams might be lessened because of Larry Page's flying car, which will be available by the end of the year. For the first time, the Kitty Hawk in action prototype was shown on its official website.
According to Business Insider, Sebastian Thrun, President of Kitty Hawk and also one of those ho helped the self-driving car project at Google, tweeted the link where Kitty Hawk is in action. The present prototype of the Flyer looks like a flying jet ski according to Cimeron Morrissey, the one who test flew the aircraft. This appearance of the prototype is reasonable for the vehicle is also designed to fly over water.
Morrissey even tested the take off from the lake in California and made the vehicle glide 10 meters above the water. However, in her written review, she said the final version would look different from the prototype. She also added that it is more like flying a motorcycle and the controls are built into a set of handlebars, which is more like a joystick's buttons on a video game. The Flyer takes off and lands vertically, pretty much the same as a helicopter. The difference is that the Flyer is 100 percent electric, powered by eight rotors and can travel up to 25mph, reported Tech Crunch.
Kitty Hawk's official website stated that the machine can now operate in the US legally and it is safe and tested, given that it is flying in uncongested places. The vehicle is within the ultralight aircraft category, which only weighs 100 kilograms, that is why it doesn't need a pilot's license to operate it, under the current regulations of FAA, as long as it is not used in thickly populated areas.
According to the report from The Verge, the Kitty Hawk was as loud as overpowered speedboats but it is not damaging to the environment for it is an electric powered vehicle.
The Kitty Hawk manufacturer haven't said yet how much the vehicle would cost but interested buyers could get a $2000 or £1,560 discount if they will pay $100 now. The buyer will benefit the discount and some test flights after giving the early payment.
