It seems like customer confidence towards Samsung products has been renewed as evident in the latest report from the company themselves. An official announcement from the Samsung reveals that they apparently received a record-breaking number of preorders for their Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, which actually surpassed that of the pre-orders they got for the devices' predecessors.

As per a report from Android Authority, Samsung recently sent out an email to different media outlets to proudly announce their recent achievement. Samsung Electronics America president, Tim Baxter, stated that they experienced an increase of 30 percent year-over-year in preorders as compared to the numbers they generated for the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Plus.

According to Tech Crunch, the released email hadn't really detailed the actual numbers, but a 30 percent increase in US-based sales is still quite significant for a company that is currently undergoing a lot of PR-related problems in its home country. The company's head Lee Jae-yong, the grandson of Samsung's founder Lee Byung-chul, is currently facing several charges of embezzlement and bribery linked to the country's recently impeached president.

Aside from the troubles back home, the company's is also still reeling in from the PR-nightmare concerning the exploding batteries on their Galaxy Note 7 flagship. The issue caused the company billions of dollars in the recall that followed and millions more to ensure that it won't happen again. The biggest damage, however, wasn't financial, but instead was the damage the defective units had done to the company's reputation.

Despite the issues, US consumers have likely now been convinced that the Note 7 problem may have just been a one-time thing and that the same issue will not be present in the S8. Consumers are likely still confident in the company's other products as well, but it still has yet to be seen if the same confidence will show in the company's next Note offering, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
