Apple finally announced the official name of its latest iPhone offering in the smartphone arena. Dubbed as the iPhone Pro, this premium iPhone will roll out anytime this 2017.

As early as 2016, the successor to the iPhone 7 has been given a lot of names. It was referred to as the iPhone Edition while some others called it the iPhone X. Majority, however, referred to it as the iPhone 8 as an indication of the series that it belonged to.

It turns out that the Cupertino tech conglomerate has a better name for it, officially calling it the iPhone Pro. For the first time in Apple history, the company disclosed one key element about its upcoming flagship device prior to its launch. In the past, it has actually hinted in a subtle way the moniker for the successor of the successful iPhone 7.

During the question and answer part at Apple's annual shareholders' Meeting, Tim Cook revealed several important details. According to the CEO, fans can expect that the company will do more in the Pro area, as it is very important to the company. He added that in particular, the creative area is of vital importance to Apple.

It can be recalled that Apple has already started rebranding some of its products. In a report by Mac Rumors, it noted that the Cupertino-based tech giant discontinued their MacBook Air lines of product in 2017. Only MacBook and MacBook pro are the two products left in that particular laptop product line.

Although there are still MacBook Air models available for sale in several stores, it has been confirmed that the company will not be releasing any additional updates for the machines. The same thing happened to the iPad Air while the iPad Mini is still available in Apple Stores, says Forbes.

The most recent announcement made by the company in relation to the official name of its premium iPhone is an underlining fact that it has indeed getting rid of the numbers in its iPhone lines. The next set of iPhones that will be launched will most likely be called iPhone with the year it was released as its identifier, according to BGR.

Fans can also expect that the Pro term will be added to its premium iPhones just like what Apple did to the MacBooks and iPads. Most likely, we will have the iPhone and the iPhone Pro soon as the company removes the SE as its identifier.
