Nintendo's latest generation gaming console, the Nintendo Switch, continues to be a commercial success as the demand for the hybrid system has become insatiable. However, in this time of mobility, technological diversity, and intense competition, Nintendo may have missed adding one feature that should have been quite obvious for any type of gaming system.

According to a report from Forbes, the Nintendo Switch apparently lacks the ability to transfer saved data to other Switch consoles. This means that players will only be able to save and continue any particular game on a single console. There is currently no way to extract save game data from the device.

Any game that is played with the new console is basically locked into that system until it is finished. Even with the proliferation of cloud storage, the Nintendo Switch apparently doesn't even offer that option. The issue would have easily been resolved if players were allowed to load up their saved game on the same Nintendo account on a different Switch console. However, that is apparently not the case with the Switch.

The same report also states that there is currently no way to move the saved games to an SD card, which would have been a better option for those who want to carry around their currently played games. As reported by Polygon, one user had apparently sent in his newly bought Nintendo Switch for repairs due to several issues. Unfortunately, the console was returned to him with all of his saved games completely erased.

The user assumed that Nintendo had some way of transferring the saved games within their repair facilities, but that is apparently also not the case. The inability to transfer saved games from one system to another is a massive oversight from the company considering that almost all of the other systems worldwide have the functionality. Users unfortunate enough to damage their consoles will have no way to back up their games, which means that they will have no choice but to start their games from scratch all over again.
