News about a second-generation Asus Padfone first surfaced back in May, with initial rumors saying the hybrid device would be released by mid-2013. Now, however, it seems that the Padfone 2 launch is just around the corner. Asus has already sent out invitations for an Oct. 16 event, and leaks and speculation are piling up ahead of the launch.

After seeing some leaked benchmarks, a new post called "Padfone 2 specs revealed" surfaced in Mobile01 Forum, listing the full specs of the device. The details seem to fall in line with many of the recent rumors, including the leaked benchmark, and the Padfone 2 looks promising.

According to the new leak, the Asus Padfone 2 will pack a Snapdragon S4 Pro dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz under the hood, along with 2GB of RAM. The device will reportedly sport a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720p HD display. The leak, however, confusingly lists both Super AMOLED and IPS+, and clearly it has to be one or another. Other features include a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash and full HD recording, a 1.2-megapixel front-facing shooter, LTE, HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, and microUSB 2.0 with MHL.

The leak bears no mention of storage configurations or whether the "A68" will be running on the latest Android 4.1 Jelly bean. When it comes to the device's size, if this leak is to be believed the Padfone 2 will measure 137.9 x 68.9 x 9mm, and will weigh 135g, battery included. The battery will be a decent 2140mAh.

The Asus Padfone 2 has been shrouded in mystery so far, with very few details surfacing as rumors. This is the first time the full specs are revealed, but remember that this leak is not official, so it may or may not be accurate. Either way, it won't be long until we learn all the details on Oct. 16, when Asus unveils its new Padfone 2 in Milan and Taipei.
