Sony will release four new Xperia smartphones this year. The company revealed this in the recently concluded Mobile World Congress.

It seems that Sony is getting back in the world of smartphones with a bang. It is evident on the company's announcement at the MWC in February 2017. The announcement revealed that the Japanese tech giant is gearing for the launch of two new smartphone lines. These lines are consist of two latest high-end smartphones and two upper mid-range phones. The higher range will include the astounding Xperia XZ Premium and the Xperia XZs. The upper mid-range, on the other hand, will be composed of the Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra.

In terms of display resolution, the Sony Xperia XZ Premium is perhaps the best smartphone so far. This device has a 5.46-inch display screen with 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution or 807 pixels per inch (ppi). According to Digital Trends, the company borrowed the HDR technology from its TV range and put it on the Xperia XZ Premium. The device displays white brighter, black darker and other colors more vivid. To top it all, this premium device runs on Snapdragon 835 chipset.

On the other hand, the Sony Xperia XZs offers a lower version of the premium. It runs on Snapdragon 820 chipset. Contrasting the premium, the XZs does not have the top of the line display technology. Apart from that, the specs of the premium also apply to the XZs. Both smartphones are packed with Android Nougat and are both waterproof. In addition, both phones are equipped with 19MP rear cameras and 13MP front cameras.

Meanwhile, Sony Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra may not be as premium as the other two smartphones but they are far in contrast with those that were given cheap specs. Both phones run on Android Nougat and sport a gorgeous 23MP rear camera. In terms of display, the Xperia XA1, and XA1 Ultra are midrange in classification. The Xperia XA1 has a 720 1280 pixel resolution. On the other hand, the Xperia XA1 Ultra has 1080 X 1920 pixel resolution. In addition, the Xperia A1 Ultra falls on the classification of a phablet with 6-inch display size. The XA1 is a smaller version with a 5-inch display.
