Apple has had a good track record of keeping any of their upcoming new products strictly under wraps, which is why leaks about any upcoming iPhone or MacBook laptops are quite rare. One of the most anticipated new products from the company is, of course, the long-awaited new version of their iMac line of all-in-one desktop computers.
The current generation iMac is technically still the same iMac that Apple had launched back in October 2015. The new models, however, have received some internal upgrades and some new features via new operating system versions, but the device itself still hasn't really changed. Apple is of course expected to release a brand new 2017 iMac this year, which will be the next evolution of the iMac line.
According to a report from Mac World, Apple is still pretty much dedicated to providing more desktop computers in the coming years. Tim Cook even previously mentioned that Desktops and iMacs are very strategic for them as a company as there are still a lot of reasons for them to exist.
2017 Apple iMac Specs
As for the rumored specs for the 2017 Apple iMac, a report from Science World Report reveals that the upcoming desktop may be coming with the new Intel Kaby Lake processors and the new AMD Polaris 10 or Polaris 11 GPUs. The device is also expected to come with a 5K Retina display, specifically for the high-end 27-inch variant. The device is also expected to sport the latest input and output ports, including USB Type-C and Thunderbolt 3. The device could also be coming with a full flash storage system and Touch ID as standard.
2017 Apple iMac Release Date
The majority of the reports regarding the 2017 iMac all point to a possible unveiling at the upcoming Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event that is set to take place from June 5 to June 9. Apple is expected to unveil several new updates to their software systems during the event, but the iMac could also become part of the presentation.
