Samsung Galaxy S8 has been subject to all sorts of rumors and leaks giving smartphone lovers a brief glimpse at the upcoming device's specs, features and other details ahead of its scheduled March 29 unveiling at the company's Galaxy Unpacked 2017 event.

Up to this time, tech buffs already know there will be two models including the regular Galaxy S8 and its Plus variant, the home button has been ditched and the device will sport an awkwardly placed fingerprint sensor, despite the lack of an official announcement. The only thing that seems to be still under wraps if the Galaxy S8's exact release date.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Date

While multiple sources have been pointing to a March 2017 launch for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Plus' long-awaited successors, some recently surfaced reports are now hinting at an April 21 or April 28 launch date for the flagship smartphone. Thankfully, a source seems to have finally spilled the beans about the Galaxy S8's actual launch date.

A senior supply chain source has told BGR shreds of information that suggest the Galaxy S8 will not be hitting the store shelves anytime soon. Well acquainted with an unnamed Canadian cell carrier's plans, the aforesaid sources have predicted that pre-orders will start shipping out April 28 in Canada.

However, Samsung is not likely to debut the new Galaxy flagship smartphones in Canada before launching it in the US. Thus, if this revelation is anything to go by, the phone will launch in the US latest by the 28th. Samsung's release pattern also cements the fact that flagship smartphones have gone on sale in the US and Canada on the same day.

Apparently, the devices are cross-compatible between US and Canada. Moreover, considering Canada's undersized population as compared to the US, simultaneously satisfying the demand for both countries is not really backbreaking for the company.

If Samsung is indeed gearing up to launch the long-awaited Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone on April 28, it will be another blow to those who have restlessly been waiting for the next Galaxy flagship smartphone. With Samsung opting to not unveil the phone at this year's MWC (Mobile World Congress), the hype around the S8 has been skyrocketing, but if the aforesaid launch date is confirmed, Samsung could end up dashing hopes of Galaxy's huge fanbase.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Features

While Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked 2017 event is just around the corner, the popular handset maker is teasing a slew of never-before-seen features in the form of an opinion poll, according to Gadgets 360.

The company's Philippines website is taking the poll in the bid to figure out what tech enthusiasts are really looking for in the Next Galaxy. Responses to the question include a superior camera, enhanced battery life, awe-inspiring design, robust gaming performance and enhanced VR (virtual reality) experience.

The official poll seems to hint at Samsung's plans to add a range of new capabilities for VR as well. However, nothing is set in stone so far and it looks like Galaxy fans will have to continue waiting with bated breath to find out what the new Galaxy S8 has in store for them.
