Fans of "Pokemon Go" are up for some delightful treats from Niantic this year in the form of big updates coming to the immensely popular augment reality game. One of which is the highly demanded addition of Legendary Pokemon like Mew, Mewtwo and legendary bird trio Arduino, Zapdos and Meltros.

In a recent interview with Wired with Niantic's CEO John Hanke as translated by Nintendo Everything, Hanke has laid their plans for "Pokemon Go" this year. He offered several teases on things that hardcore gamers can get excited about in the game's upcoming huge update.

Fans are dying to know whether Niantic has plans to bring the highly requested addition of Legendary Pokemon Mew and Mewtwo including the Legendary Bird trio, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. Hanke said, "I can say with certainty that we will see more of that this year."

The big boss of Niantic further revealed a couple of features that will be getting a major overhaul via the next update for "Pokemon Go". These said features involve the gym battles and playing together. Hanke pointed out that when players share one common goal, that would strongly motivate them to play with friends as well as meet other people.

As for the gym battles, Hanke admits that the gameplay in this aspect is contained and do not function as they intend it to. Hence, they plan to overhaul this feature to boost teamwork among gamers and encourage them to engage in gym battles by offering bigger incentives and rewards.

Meanwhile, the ongoing "Pokemon Go" event had just reached its conclusion. The Pokemon Celebration event had been offering the jubilant Pikachu. The event kicked off Feb. 26 at 1:00 p.m. PST and ended yesterday, March 6, at 1:00 pm PST, Express Online reported.
