Samsung's high-end Galaxy-branded smartphone lineup recently welcomed the latest member of the family, the Galaxy Note 2 "phablet," but it remains uncertain when the device will actually hit stores. According to a recent leak, Germany may get the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 2 LTE versions in October and November, respectively, confirming Samsung's announcement at the Unpacked IFA 2012 event.

Samsung said the U.S. Galaxy Note 2 versions will arrive in U.S. stores by the end of the year, but has not provided any precise launch dates. Meanwhile, various leaks seem to confirm that every major U.S. mobile carrier, including Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular, will get the device sometime in the coming months.

A new BGR report, however, now claims the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 2 may launch on Oct. 21, exactly one month after Apple's new iPhone 5 hits U.S. stores and several other markets. The carrier has not confirmed the release date.

"BGR has confirmed with a trusted source that AT&T's (T) upcoming flagship smartphones for the holidays - besides that flagship smartphone, of course - will be launching on October 21st. This will include the Nokia(NOK) Lumia 920 and the Samsung (005930) Galaxy Note II. An AT&T spokesperson had no comment."

The Oct. 21 release date would fall within expected time frames, as Samsung said it would be launching the Galaxy Note 2 in the U.S. later this year, with some regions getting it in October. Considering that AT&T was the original carrier of the Galaxy Note, it is possible the carrier could have it out ahead of its competitors. On the other hand, other U.S. carriers may be getting the device around the same time.

Release dates for the other four Galaxy Note variants - Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular are not confirmed either. Sprint, Verizon, and U.S. Cellular are also expected to host the "phablet" on their 4G LTE networks.

The new rumor regarding the AT&T Galaxy Note release date follows news that the Sprint Galaxy Note 2 received a Wi-Fi certification, meaning the launch should not be far off.
