Nokia's City Lens app, demonstrated on its Lumia 920 smartphone earlier this week, is available for its Lumia 900, 800, and 710 devices as of yesterday. The app allows users to see names of businesses through the camera and tap on the display to receive more information, such as walk distance, contact details, directions, and reviews. It is an augmented reality app, according to Nokia, so the details show in real-time.
In the Nokia Conversations blog post, the company described a problem: users may or may not want to see listings behind the buildings in view. It gives users the option not to display those listings.
The company also talked about a 3D icons layout, though did not elaborate. iOS jailbreak modifications created 3D icons, though they did not fully deliver on the description.
City Lens is now available to download for free for Nokia Lumias 900, 800, and 710. The Lumia 920 is supported. To download the app head to the blog post, press the Search button on a Lumia, scan the QR code on the Conversations blog, tap on the link, and then download the app from the Windows Store. Users can probably also search in the Windows Marketplace.
