Earlier this week, a debatable new report out from East Asia suggested Apple is taking too much time to launch a couple of large variants of the iPads in the market i.e. 12.9-inch iPad Pro remodel and a new 0.5-inch variant -- with both iterations now expected to hit the stores in May.
Apple's long rumored 10.5- and 12.9-inch iPad Pro models are said to ship out to consumers either in May or June, according to DigiTimes. This timeline does not coincide with previous reports that indicated the devices will arrive during Q1 2017. It's worth noting that the same publication initially suggested iPad launch delays was within the realm of possibility.
Despite the lack of an official confirmation, rumors surrounding the 2017 variants of the iPads have been running rampant all over the internet. In line with this, Japanese blog Mac Otakara (via AppleInsider) recently claimed that Apple is gearing up to unveil a set of three new iPad models at an independent event slated to take place in March. The publication refrained from citing its sources.
Categorically, the Cupertino-based tech firm is said to unveil:
A second-generation iPad Pro featuring a 12.9-inch display
A 10.5-inch model, a budget-friendly 9.7-inch variant expected to oust iPad Air 2
Surprisingly, a revamped 7.9-inch iPad mini
According to some sources, the new iPad models will dispatch soon after the March event save for the 10.5-inch model, which is likely to be pushed back until May.
The new 10.5-inch iPad Pro came under the spotlight in August when acclaimed KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted the device will oust the current-generation 9.7-inch iPad Pro as the company's flagship tablet. Adding more fuel to the already burning rumors about the 10.5-inch tablet, some new reports claimed it might even get rid of the side bezels as this would enable Apple to accommodate a larger display into the device keeping the dimensions identical to the 9.7-inch iPad Pro.
While reports contradict a launch schedule for the rumored 10.5-inch iPad Pro, Apple reseller network has run into a situation where the largest 12.9-inch model is currently out of stock. A refresh for the tablet unveiled back in Sept. 2015, has been long-delayed.
