A significant part of the Pokémon Day celebration involves the adorable Pikachu in a new party hat. The Santa Hat Pikachu during the holiday season was so successful that the Pokémon Company decided to give the blindingly yellow monster a new head covering. "Pokémon GO" Trainers will have the chance to catch the new Pikachu for nine days.

Announced via the official Pokémon website, Festive Hat Pikachu will arrive in Niantic Labs' popular "Pokémon GO." Trainers who want to capture the special edition Pikachu need to keep a look out on these two dates: Feb. 26, the beginning of the event; and March 6, the end of the celebration. Trainers who want to be a part of Pokémon Day celebration will have more than a week to find Pikachu in a new hat in the wild.

"Pokémon GO" Trainers are encouraged to capture Festive Hat Pikachu as its party hat will stay on forever. This means that the new head covering will remain even after the nine-day event has passed. What's unsure for now is whether the festive hat will stay even when Pikachu evolves to Raichu, just like how it was with Santa Hat Pikachu and Santa Hat Raichu.

The Pokémon Day celebration commemorates the launch of the first Pokémon game that was called "Pocket Monsters Aka and Midori" in Japan in February 1996. Originally, the celebration is held for a day, but The Pokémon Company decided to extend it to nine days.

The Pokémon Company has been notably keeping track of Niantic's events. In 2016, there were special events for Halloween and Christmas, and New Year 2017 saw special changes as well. Heavy notes that more events are to take place to coincide with this year's holidays and other special occasions. The announcement of the Festive Hat Pikachu comes days after the Gen 2 Update for "Pokémon GO" was rolled out.
