As the tech industry inches closer to the next iPhone model, multiple sources keep speculating about what Apple could be planning for the unit. Up until recently, loyal Apple patrons have assumed that the Cupertino-based smartphone maker was going to come up with impressive hardware and software for the device.
According to a report from CNET, Apple is going to release three new iPhone units this year - as part of the company’s 10th year anniversary. Apple will reportedly launch its next premium flagship, and upgraded versions of the iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus. Despite the same-day release, the iPhone 8 and the new iPhone 7 series upgrades will reportedly boast of different bodies.
Multiple sources have reported that the iPhone 8 will have a new chassis that is made of both glass and steel - in addition to a curved OLED screen display and a native iris scanner. The iPhone 7 series, on the other hand, is expected to stick to the aluminum alloy chassis.
By coming up with three iPhone models, Apple will end up dominating the smartphone market. With a curved OLED screen, long-time Apple patrons just might be get their hands on their own iPhone 8 unit - despite the flashy tag price. The upcoming iPhone flagship will reportedly cost more than $1,000 in the United States - which converts to approximately AU$1,300 in Australia. This unique yet highly expensive screen will make the iPhone 8 go head-to-head with Samsung’s next flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 8.
The unit is currently being referred to as the iPhone 8, but Apple has yet to confirm the upcoming device’s actual name. Through the years, the Cupertino-based device maker has maintained its numbering approach to naming. However, there could still be a chance for the next unit to be named iPhone 10, iPhone X - or something else entirely - as a tribute for its 10th year anniversary.
