"Splatoon 2" will reportedly be released in August 2017, according to an Amazon leak. Previously, Nintendo revealed that "Splatoon 2" will be released sometime in the summer to anchor that particular season's Nintendo Switch sales. The company, however, did not give a specific calendar date. A European Amazon listing, however, may have leaked the release date of "Splatoon 2."

According to this "Splatoon 2" Italian Amazon listing, the game would be available to fans on August 15. Previous Amazon listings leaks have turned out to be true. For instance, the virtual releases of "Pokémon Red," "Pokémon Blue," and "Pokémon Yellow," as well as the price of each were leaked on Amazon -- and they turned out to be accurate.

There have been times, however, where an Amazon listing turned out to be false, just like the release date for "Monster Hunter Generations." The Amazon listing put the release date on July 31 when the actual release date turned out to be July 15. The listed "Splatoon 2" release date lands on a Tuesday, which is a day that is unlikely for Nintendo to launch titles. Traditionally, the company schedules its game releases on a Friday.

Earlier in January 2017, Game UK listed "Splatoon 2" to be released on August 18, 2017. The website, if you try to visit now has noticeably changed the listing for the game. The release date is now changed to TBC (To Be Confirmed) rather than the previously stated August 18. The date given by the site is more likely accurate to Nintendo's launch tradition. The site's previously listed release date falls on a Friday.

At the moment, it is hard to say which date is correct given the vague information coming from Nintendo itself. Europe receives games on Tuesday and Nintendo appears to release their titles on a Friday. Either way, all indicators are directing to that week as the release date for "Splatoon 2."
