The HTC Accord, rumored to be HTC's new Windows Phone 8 handset expected at the end of September, could be called the HTC X8 or the Windows Phone 8X by HTC. The allegedly official name is mentioned in the device's manual, which leaked ahead of the unveiling.

The new leak comes from a relatively unknown Twitter account (via GSM Arena), the same one that spilled the beans on the handset's specifications. The diagram of the HTC 8X shows details of the volume rocker and notification LED, as well as the usual set of Windows Phone software buttons. A dedicated camera button also falls in line with the Windows Phone platform.

Along with the diagram, the tipster also lists some of the device's specifications. According to the leak, the HTC 8X will sport an HD display, but the exact screen size is not mentioned. The specs list further touts a Qualcomm MSM8960 (S4) dual-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, the same chip as the one found on the Samsung Ativ S. The device is expected to be available in 8GB and 16GB configurations, with microSD card slots for expandable memory. The Accord is also rumored to pack NFC (Near-Field Communication) capabilities.

Based on the leaked spec sheet, the HTC Accord, or Windows Phone 8X by HTC, seems like a decent Windows Phone 8 smartphone, comparable to Samsung's offering. While the trend for Windows Phone 7 was set with 3.7-inch displays by Samsung Omnia, Nokia Lumia 800 and the HTC Radar, with Windows Phone 8 it appears that manufacturers have gone the extra mile. And since better screen resolutions can now be supported, manufacturers are less hesitant to pack bigger displays. Devices such as the HTC Titan did sport a bigger display on Windows Phone 7, but the WVGA resolution did not do it much justice.

Other rumored specifications for the HTC Accord include a 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 touchscreen with 720p HD pixel resolution, 1GB of RAM, NFC, and an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, capable of recording full 1080p HD videos.

Until an official unveiling, however, these leaks and speculations remain in the rumor stage.
