"God of War: Ascension" was thought to be the last installment of the "God of War" series. Much to fans' delight, Sony revealed a soft reboot of the series through "God of War 4: A New Beginning."

The initial PS4 announcement trailer was revealed during E3 2016, but not a lot of details have been revealed since then. Creative director Cory Barlog has given fans a general overview of the storyline. The name of the protagonist's son was revealed this year. The latest bit of news for "God of War 4" comes in the form of a Tweet from Christopher Judge.

#GodofWar4

Christopher Judge is the official voice of Kratos, the God of War. He recently tweeted: "I can now confirm I am Kratos #GodofWar4."

According to GamePur and SegmentNext, this could mean some fresh new "God of War 4" information in the coming weeks.

'God of War 4' Release Date

While there's yet to be an official announcement from Sony, Game N Guide reports that "God of War 4" will be released on December 29, 2017 for PlayStation 4 platforms. They cite Amazon as the source, but it's not made clear whether this is the distribution date or the day the game goes live for play. Again, without an official statement from Sony, this is speculation at best.

'God of War 4: A New Beginning'

"We've already told the story of The Hulk," creative director Barlog told IGN. "We want to tell the story of Banner now."

Sony has been very clear that "God of War 4" will take a different direction compared to the previous titles in the franchise. Whereas Kratos lived up to his title proudly in those games, the Kratos fans will see in "God of War 4" now resembles a humbled warrior. The heart of "God of War 4: A New Beginning" is Kratos' relationship with his son, Atreus. The cinematic image on the official site even depicts the father and son duo fighting side-by-side.
