Only recently did Nintendo state that a separate stylus or pen may be a part of the accessories for Nintendo Switch console. This revelation was made by Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo in his interview with Time Magazine.

He made a throwaway statement that could be linked to a currently unannounced exterior accessory for Nintendo Switch. This could be a pen or a stylus accessory for the console. The interview was basically about other features of Nintendo Switch, including the much appreciated "HD Rumble" attribute. Miyamoto was describing the usage of the device. "What is incredible is that it is not just this monotone vibration, but you can feel the taps. So when you put your pen on the screen, it is not just this dull vibration, you can even feel the tap that the tip of the pen makes on the screen," he told Time.

This statement has led to many speculations and rumors in itself. Does Miyamoto mean a pen or a stylus accessory that is being launched for Nintendo Switch? Will the third party game developers be designing different games, apps, and programs in a way that they will require the use of such a stylus? Nothing is clear currently but it does lead to a lot of discussions. Of course, this may simply be a case of a misconception derived from a base interview that is "lightly edited". It could also mean an application that uses human fingertips to control a virtual pen or stylus in the interface itself. Nintendo is yet to issue a clarification in this regard.

In the interview, Miyamoto has also asserted on certain other changes being brought forward by Nintendo. For instance, "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will be vastly different from its predecessors by having a far richer storyline. Developers will be working to strike a good balance between the story and the actual adventure of the game.
